Position: The position of Head of Production will be responsible for running the full production capabilities of a producer of soy bean products. The company has 2 production plants which this role will manage, one for resins and texturization (circa 5K tonnes) and the other for cleaning, milling, and toasting of full-fat soy (circa 20K tonnes). The company has 40 employees in production consisting of Incoming Raw Material/ Silo Personnel, Order Processing, Logistics (raw and finished product) and Procurement of Packaging and Operating Materials and others. This position will have 5 direct reports. Both plants run 24/7 with staff onsite in shift patterns working from 4am to 11pm (remaining 5 hours run automatically).

Main Responsibilities:

  • Order processing in line with deadlines, quality and costs.
  • Management, organisation and control of production processes from planning and production to storage and delivery of finished products.
  • Planning, structuring and optimisation of sequences and production processes.
  • Implementation of measures to continuously improve product quality and productivity.
  • Personnel responsibility – disciplinary and technical management of assigned employees. Qualification of employees in production.
  • Ensures smooth operations through a structured and efficient way of working.
  • Responsible for monitoring and optimising production procedures and processes to improve product quality and efficiency.
  • Ensures the supply of labour, operating and production resources.
  • Checks whether safety regulations are adhered to in production.
  • Development of a shop floor management system in production.

Key Requirements:

  • 10+ years professional experience.
  • Experienced production manager from the food industry/ manufacturer of ingredients for the food industry/ milling industry.
  • Education in the field of food technology, process engineering, processing technology, milling technology, relevant apprenticeship training.
  • Experience with production management.
  • Experience in the field of extrusion technology would be an advantage.
  • Soft skills such as communication skills, leadership, goal-orientation, problem-solving skills, an analytical and process-oriented way of working are important.
