About the Business

Our Client is a pioneering plant-based seafood company. Using breakthrough technology, they create premium whole-cut, plant-based fish fillets designed to sustainably feed the world at scale. The flagship product is a salmon-inspired filet, currently served at top restaurants across the U.S. As they expand nationally, they are seeking a seasoned and strategic Sales Director to lead the U.S. sales efforts across multiple regions.

The Position

The Sales Director will be responsible for driving and executing the national sales strategy, managing a growing sales team, and fostering strategic partnerships with distributors and food service and retail channels. This role requires a leader with strong sales acumen, a deep understanding of the food industry, and experience in managing high-performing sales teams. The Sales Director will play a critical role in shaping the company’s growth, working closely with senior leadership to accelerate market penetration, diversify sales channels, and ensure long-term business success.

Key Responsibilities

· Sales Leadership: Develop and execute a comprehensive sales strategy to grow presence across key U.S. regions, particularly in food service and retail channels.

· Selling the product: in a small and agile team, you need to be actively selling the product, especially with key accounts.

· Team Management: Lead, mentor, and expand the sales team, ensuring targets are met and exceeded. Foster a results-driven, collaborative culture.

· Distribution Development: Cultivate new distribution partners and manage the relationships.

· Account Management: Oversee key accounts, ensuring client satisfaction, retention, and growth.

· Establish and maintain strong relationships with customers, chefs, and distribution partners.

· Cross-functional Collaboration: Work closely with marketing, operations, and product

development teams to align sales initiatives with company objectives.

· Market Expansion: Monitor market trends, competitors, and customer feedback to identify new opportunities and adjust strategies accordingly.

· Sales Reporting and Analysis: Track sales metrics, prepare forecasts, and present performance updates to senior leadership. Utilize CRM systems to maintain accurate data.

· Trade Shows & Industry Events: Represent at trade shows, customer meetings, and food industry events to promote brand awareness and generate leads.

 

Requirements and Qualifications

· 5+ years of experience in sales leadership, preferably within the food service AND CPG

· Network within the food service & retail industries, including experience with distributors,

brokers, and key decision-makers at restaurant groups

· Demonstrated success in managing and scaling sales teams

· Exceptional negotiation, communication, and presentation skills

· Ability to thrive in a dynamic, fast-paced startup environment and lead through change.

· Experience with CRM systems and sales analytics

· Passion for sustainable food solutions and the plant-based movement.

· Bachelor’s degree preferred; advanced degree or MBA is a plus.
