Role: As an Analytical Chemist you will work closely with Flavourists and Application Technologists. You will play a key role

in flavour development by delivering recommendations, matching flavour profiles and work with decoding complex flavour

compositions from any natural sources.

By using your skills and experience, you will provide critical chemical insights and support to our Flavourists and Quality

Department and Quality Control in deviation management and shelf-life aspects.

Your position and responsibilities include training and coaching of Quality Control. In this role, you will also influence

everything from working methods to equipment for analytical purposes, and you will have opportunities and more flexibility

that can often be lacking in larger flavour houses.

Main Responsibilities

• Chemical analyses of raw materials and flavours for flavour development and QC purposes

• Analysis of natural, botanical extracts for identification of volatiles

• Using advanced instrumentation to identify molecular structures and properties.

• Routine maintenance and record keeping of analytical instruments.

• Be involved in various development projects for our customers

• Training and coaching

Key Requirements

• Degree in Chemistry, Biochemistry, Medicinal Chemistry, or related fields.

• At least 5 years, preferably 10 years, of work experience as an Analytical Chemist in the flavour business.

• Advanced skills in analytical methods (GC-MS, GC-O) as well as analytical methods for QC purpose

• Sample preparation and extraction methods commonly used in the flavour industry (Likens-Nickerson, distillation,

solvent extraction, etc) from commercial flavours as well as botanicals and foodstuff.

• Thorough understanding and experience in using analytical/scientific lab instrumentation and software,

maintenance and knowledge.

• Knowledge of flavour raw materials and essential oils

• Used to search information in academic literature

• Documented testing experience in analytical laboratory with experience preparing and analysing samples and

interpreting data.

• Curiosity and passion for innovation and continuous learning.

• Fluent in spoken and written English

• Pedagogical team player
