Area Sales Manager

The Role: My client are a multinational speciality ingredients producer, specialising in the area of dairy and dairy-like specialty ingredients, with a strong focus on cultures and flavours. They are currently looking to recruit for a new Area Sales Manager to join the company due to continuous growth of the organisation and the requirement to further develop their sales force. Reporting to the Sales Director, the candidate will be responsible for developing the profitability on an international area, leveraging a network of specialised retailers.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage sales to a defined region of responsibility working with B2B clients including some key accounts
  • Develop client portfolio of specialty clients
  • Seek out new clients with a key focus on business development
  • Meet sales targets respecting volume and profit-margin
  • Negotiate prices and contractual conditions
  • Answer technical and commercial requests and propose new solutions
  • Liaise with the team internally and as appropriate when handling customer enquiries or developing projects
  • Ensure with the team high-quality service including prompt delivery, technical assistance, product development
  • Manage the after-sales follow-up and monitor customer satisfaction

Required Skills & Experiences

  • Minimum of 5 years experience in a similar job requirement, ideally in sales or business development
  • Knowledge of the dairy or cheese speciality ingredients industry
  • Ideally a university degree in Food or an MBA
  • Experience working with export markets
  • Proven track record in winning new business
  • Open to extensive travel (50%)
  • Strong written and oral communication skills as well as high negotiation skills
  • Fluency in English. Additional languages (Spanish, French, Russian, etc.) considered a plus.
