About the business: A life sciences start-up, developer of natural skincare and cosmeceuticals from ethically obtained, sustainable, novel ingredients. Following years of advanced plants’ research, the company is ready to bring the next generation of natural skincare products to the market, using scientifically validated methods.

Reason for the Head of Marketing and Branding role: Working alongside the Founder-CEO and COO, to develop and implement the company’s marketing strategy across UK and Europe to ensure sustainable growth and steady market capture with innovative product offerings. Your overall aim will be the e-commercialisation of the skincare products, developing and solidifying brand position in the region. This will involve implementing branding strategies including visual identity, concept/story, packaging, pricing, timelines, formulation, as well as consumer & market insights, in order to deliver competitive product positioning.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Create and execute a thorough digital marketing strategy with initial UK focus, eventually encompassing Europe. Ensure that it is carried out with the utmost diligence, in order to develop a strong brand presence within the region online.
  • Utilise the company’s history, scientific background and novel ingredients in order to uniquely position the brand within the UK and European markets.
  • Drive the development and implementation of the digital marketing communication strategy to promote the company’s message and products.
  • Market research and track industry trends to identify branding opportunities suitable for the products.
  • Manage and execute the branding of current products as well as the future line expansion.
  • Identify communication channels to deliver those messages to potential customers and markets.
  • Cultivate and strengthen the industry network with influencers and by participating in industry tradeshows, conferences and important events.
  • As the brand grows, help to build a team that will deliver future products and global expansion.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Essential: Degree in Chemistry or comparable professional education. Commercial education combined with industry experience will also be considered.
  • Essential: Proven track record of success in taking innovative cosmetics brands to UK and European markets. Strong knowledge of digital marketing channels with focus on customer acquisition and retention strategies.
  • Essential: Thorough understanding of the Cosmetics industry in the UK. Ability to identify and establish strategic relationships within the industry.
  • Creative and entrepreneurial spirit – must be able to understand company’s vision and values and be able to communicate this to the consumer.
  • Experience promoting brands on social media and ability to develop “influencer” partnerships.
  • Experience working closely with product development in cosmetics and beauty space, in a consumer packaged goods environment.
  • Enthusiastic, entrepreneurial individual with a positive attitude and great interpersonal skills, able to obtain buy-ins from all parties.
  • Self-driven, highly motivated and result orientated, with excellent self-management and able to thrive in an entrepreneurial, start-up environment.
  • Able to work under pressure, flexible and willing to travel – within the UK and occasionally internationally.
  • Fluent English (spoken and written).
