Role Overview:
Our client is a family-owned company, world leader in the production of raw materials, fragrances and flavours as well as active ingredients for health & beauty, present in 18 countries on 5 continents. Consistently growing and winning projects, they are looking to expand their creative team in North America and recruit a Perfumer with a strong technical background, capable of winning fragrances for the Personal Care and Air Care categories. You will work with a number of clients in Europe and internationally to create fragrances that meet current trends and technical requirements to ensure wins and sales.
Main Responsibilities:
Successfully create both new and existing fragrances according to specific project requirements such as application, pricing, regulatory and stability.
Manage and update existing “wins†to meet changing client demands.
Understand client needs and educate sales account managers on the constraints and workings of specifics related to the brief.
Collaborate with sensory to gain feedback from consumer testing.
Manage full projects in its entire lifecycle.
Comply with technical and regulatory aspects of perfumery.
Change formulas as needed and create customer samples for briefs and demo screenings.
Assist quality control with determining if odor/color qualities are stable and passing all required criteria before shipping out.
Maintain an up to date fragrance library.
Understand and execute all necessary requirements for ISO 9001.
Remain accountable for all defined responsibilities as defined by ISO 9001 process flows.
Key Requirements and Qualifications
At least 10 years experience as a Perfumer.
Must have a strong sense of smell and strong vision without glasses and/or contacts.
Ability to understand new materials and staying abreast of older materials available for use within the industry
Ability to memorize olfactive notes and accords.
Highly organized, multi-tasked professional with the successful ability to prioritize effectively to meet deadline and stay within budgets.
Understand ingredients and their reaction with application bases.
Understand safety restrictions nationally and globally in order to work with their creations in technical environments.
Ability to work independently and within a team environment.
Excellent written and verbal communication.
Ability to memorize olfactive notes and accords.
S. Degree in related field.
3-5 years of perfume technician bench work and/or direct training experience.
Previous apprenticeship with a senior perfumer.
Perfumery School Training.
Speaking French is a plus. Good understanding of French culture is necessary.
