Role Overview:

Our client is a family-owned company, world leader in the production of raw materials, fragrances and flavours as well as active ingredients for health & beauty, present in 18 countries on 5 continents. Consistently growing and winning projects, they are looking to expand their creative team in North America and recruit a Perfumer with a strong technical background, capable of winning fragrances for the Personal Care and Air Care categories. You will work with a number of clients in Europe and internationally to create fragrances that meet current trends and technical requirements to ensure wins and sales.

 

Main Responsibilities:

  • Successfully create both new and existing fragrances according to specific project requirements such as application, pricing, regulatory and stability.

  • Manage and update existing “wins” to meet changing client demands.

  • Understand client needs and educate sales account managers on the constraints and workings of specifics related to the brief.

  • Collaborate with sensory to gain feedback from consumer testing.

  • Manage full projects in its entire lifecycle.

  • Comply with technical and regulatory aspects of perfumery.

  • Change formulas as needed and create customer samples for briefs and demo screenings.

  • Assist quality control with determining if odor/color qualities are stable and passing all required criteria before shipping out.

  • Maintain an up to date fragrance library.

  • Understand and execute all necessary requirements for ISO 9001.

  • Remain accountable for all defined responsibilities as defined by ISO 9001 process flows.

 

Key Requirements and Qualifications

  • At least 10 years experience as a Perfumer.

  • Must have a strong sense of smell and strong vision without glasses and/or contacts.

  • Ability to understand new materials and staying abreast of older materials available for use within the industry

  • Ability to memorize olfactive notes and accords.

  • Highly organized, multi-tasked professional with the successful ability to prioritize effectively to meet deadline and stay within budgets.

  • Understand ingredients and their reaction with application bases.

  • Understand safety restrictions nationally and globally in order to work with their creations in technical environments.

  • Ability to work independently and within a team environment.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication.

  • Ability to memorize olfactive notes and accords.

  • S. Degree in related field.

  • 3-5 years of perfume technician bench work and/or direct training experience.

  • Previous apprenticeship with a senior perfumer.

  • Perfumery School Training.

  • Speaking French is a plus. Good understanding of French culture is necessary.
